UIM F2 World Championship Round 2 in Klaipėda

Today marked the first race day, featuring free practice and qualifying sessions! With 23 drivers on the grid, Free Practice and Q1 were split into two groups – A and B.

The morning started with a smooth and incident-free Free Practice session. However, just before qualifying, the weather took a dramatic turn. Thick fog rolled in, making visibility extremely poor.

Luckily, conditions improved just in time for Group A to complete Q1. But as Group B prepared to go out, heavy rain, lightning, and thunderstorms hit the course, forcing race officials to postpone the session. After a 30-minute delay, the skies cleared enough for Group B to finish Q1 safely. From there, the top 7 drivers from each group carried on in Q2, with the fastest 7 moving on to the final Q3 session.

⚡️ In Q2, Stefan Arand was quickest, but ultimately secured P3 in Q3.

⚡️ Mathilda Wiberg impressed with a flying final lap to grab P2.

⚡️ And the standout of the day, Peter Morin, dominated all sessions with incredible consistency and speed, securing pole position for tomorrow’s Grand Prix! The top 3 were separated by just 0.219 seconds – showing how tight the competition is this weekend!
