Munthe-Kaas makes a statement of intent!

Norway’s Tobias Munthe-Kaas’ season has not gotten off to a good start.

He flipped out the competition in Brindisi and launched over a turn buoy in Norway, causing a collision with British Racer Mette Bjerknes.

Both races saw the BaBa Racing Hull sustain considerable damage, and the Stromoy F2 Racing Team was then faced with a difficult decision with the next round just days away in Lithuania.

The damage sustained to Tobias’ chosen BaBa hull would not be fixed in time to compete in the Grand Prix of Lithuania so faced with two options the team made a choice to try to salvage the 2024 season.

We found out what Tobias’ plans are for the rest of the season and here’s what he had to say “We sat down as a team to discuss our options and decided unanimously that we wanted to give full throttle to a comeback at Klaipeda and try to salvage the rest of the season.”

He continued so “ In a huge Stromoy Racing Team effort, we joined forces to make a plan. The damage to the BaBa was extensive and would not be ready for Lithuania this week, so an empty but newly painted DAC was in the workshop early Monday morning and ready to be rigged. With the team working 24/7 every day this week by Friday morning, we were ready to test the boat. It’s been a real team effort, and from the bottom of my heart, I thank all my team and sponsors in making it possible for me to come back fighting in Klaipeda.”

Tobias and team begin the journey to Klaipeda this week and will really put the DAC Hull through its paces during Free Practice on Friday!

Stay tuned to find out how he gets on!
