Team Abu Dhabi at the Campione Grand Prix

Mohammed Al-Mehairbi and Rashed Al-Qamzi are all set to make their UIM F2 World Championship debut racing for Team Abu Dhabi at the Campione Grand Prix.

For Al-Mehairbi, he will get the chance to race a brand new DAC hull that has only just left the factory in Northern Italy. Al-Qamzi will race the DAC, which the team used at this year’s Rouen 24 Hour race.

Ten times UIM F1 World Champion, Guido Cappellini, who now acts as the Team Principal at the Abu Dhabi International Marine Club, has been pushing hard to get a racing team into the UIM F2 World Championship. “The gap between F4s and F1 is too big” said Cappellini. “F2 is a very good school for drivers to learn their race skill at, because they will face both drivers, who have years of racing experience, along with others, who are also honing their racing skill, in an extremely competitive environment.”

The team had been using the Finnish Grand Prix as a test bed for their new DAC hull. “It’s still my design” said Cappellini “these days though I don’t get in the boat, we have Alex Carella as our Official DAC Test Driver and between the two of us we think we can produce a very quick boat.”
